Teens chase, shoot at bus as two elderly men fight over kawayan, one gets hacked; young men fight in drinking joint, one stabbed with a scissor

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A group of teens chased a Ceres bus and shot at it in Escalante City while two elderly men fight over bamboo, and two young men get stabbed with a scissor over a “pick up girl.”

In the Escalante case, police chased and collared Joefel Sante, 19, a resident of Balintawak village.

City Police chief, Major Jake Barila said Sante’s companions, about four of them, remain unidentified.

Barila said that there was no other motive behind the shooting as it was allegedly “just for fun.”

Among those recovered from Sante were an unlicensed firearm and a motorcycle without a plate number painted with marijuana leaves and a Bob Marley figure.

Sante is still under the custody of the police as investigation is still on-going.

Meanwhile, separate stabbing and hacking cases left three people wounded in Victorias City.

Police prober Christian Palmes reported that Jemmy Escora, 62, was drunk and “causing a scandal” outside his house in Hacienda (plantation) Paz II, Village 10, around 7pm of 30 July.

He was allegedly shouting about his bamboo plants when two men attacked him.

The suspects were his neighbors identified as Adelino Antonio, 68, and his son, Ademar, 18.

Adelino allegedly hit the victim with a stone which made him fall to the ground.

Ademar then hacked him on the head with a bolo.

Palmes said neighbors had previously been complaining against Escora who unconscious and reportedly in a critical condition inside a hospital.

Five hours after the incident, early in the morning of 31 July, a construction worker stabbed two young men with a pair of scissors inside a drinking joint over what police called as a “pick up girl.”

Palmes told this reporter in Hiligaynon the woman was working in a bar where people “can pick up girls.”

Palmers said the suspect, Tito Malacao, 34, used a pair of scissors in stabbing
Jerry Boy, 18, and Junie, 21, both surnamed Aranego.

Palmes said the victims and the suspect were drunk and had a dispute over the “pick-up girl.”

The victims reportedly sustained minor wounds and are planning to settle the case with the suspect.
