BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The killing of what police called as a pimp who doubles as a manicurist at the public plaza here has sparked a renewed concern for public safety as City Hall’s Public Order and Safety Office and Police Station 1, cleared more than a hundred hawkers, pimps and prostitutes.
Personnel of the Public Order and Safety Office led in the clearing of at least a hundred hawkers, pimps and prostitutes who use the plaza for their businesses, illicit or otherwise.
They were helped by police from Station 1, the police territorial unit that covers the plaza.
Its chief, Major Elmer Bonilla, told DNX the clearing comes as part of measures to maintain peace and order in the area after an alleged pimp, Ana Pula from Singcang Airport figured in a fight with a fellow pimp that led to the fatal knifing of the victim.
