BACOLOD CITY – The central investigation section of the local police office might handle the probe into the killing of Filipino-Chinese businessman Robert “Kaishek” Tan if the station handling the investigation reports “no significant progress.”
Local police spokesman Ariel Pico told DNX the current investigation is being handled by a probe team of Police Station 4 which has jurisdiction over Greensville 1 in Estefania village where Tan was shot on a Sunday, 15 December.
The murder happened almost exactly a year after Tan’s younger brother, Ricardo, and his wife, Nita, reported they were ambushed here, in the upland village of Alangilan.
The two were heading home from a resort they own in the neighboring city of Talisay.
If the Station 4 team reports no significant progress soon, the city investigation branch might lead the probe and if even that would not lead to any breakthrough to the case, it could escalate to the forming of a special probe team.
That special investigation task group would be an inter-agency body that will gather reports from various intelligence-gathering bodies to solve the case, Pico explained to DNX.
