BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Area 10 drew first blood with 90 points versus Area 3 – 62 in men’s basketball on Day One of the Palarong Panlalawigan being held here.
“They delivered what they were asked to do,” winning team coach Gerome Aledran told DNX, adding he was proud of the team.
He said they are still adjusting since it was just their first game.
Area 1 is composed of athletes of the Association of Negros Occidental Private Schools and School Administrators, Inc.
Area 3, meanwhile, is made up of athletes from the cities of Talisay, Silay and Victorias and the towns of EB Magalona and Murcia.
In other matches, Area 4 coached by Glen Ignalague, prevailed over Area 7 with a nine point advantage, 73-62.
Area 4 is composed of athletes from the cities of Bago and La Carlota, and the towns of Pulupandan, Valladolid, and San Enrique.
Area 7 is composed of players from Bacolod City.
In the girls’ division, Area 7, 106 dominated Area 5, with a 35-point advantage, 106-71.
Winning coach Yhrlin Vingno believes, however, they have to prepare even more for tougher competitions to come.
