It all started as a small group of friends in Bacolod City chasing rallies across a pickleball court has grown into a full movement that now reaches across Negros and Panay. The Tikalball Tournament is more than just a tournament, it represents identity, community, and Bacolodnon pride.

At the core of Tikalball is the word “tikal.” In Bacolodnon culture, tikal is often misunderstood as simple self-praise. But to those who live it, tikal is something deeper and more meaningful. It represents confidence without arrogance, sportsmanship in both victory and loss, teamwork that lifts everyone involved, and the courage to stand tall even after defeat. This mindset shapes how Tikalball players compete and support one another on and off the court.

The journey began humbly with a group of friends bound by their love for pickleball. Over time, they saw how the sport brought people together, regardless of background. Each match wasn’t just about winning, they were about growth, fun, and community.
As their circle expanded, the idea of selling jerseys emerged. The jerseys were never just merchandise; they were symbols. Wearing Tikalball meant believing in yourself, representing your community, and stepping onto the court with pride. It gave players a shared identity and strengthened the growing bond among athletes.

To help players improve, the group organized DUPR matches, giving athletes a way to track progress and challenge themselves. This raised the level of play and encouraged players to train harder while supporting one another.
All of this momentum led to the defining moment: the planning of the first Tikalball Tournament. What started as a dream quickly became reality, drawing over 200 participants from Negros Island and Panay Island. Courts buzzed with energy, cheers echoed with every rally, and the spirit of tikal was visible in every handshake, smile, and hard-fought match.
The Tikalball Tournament proved that pickleball is not just a game—it is a platform for self-belief, unity, and cultural pride. As the movement continues to grow, Tikalball stands as a powerful reminder that confidence is not about boasting victories, but about showing up with heart, respecting the game, and representing yourself and your community with pride—no matter the outcome.
And this is just the beginning.
