Elder brother of former councilor killed in morning drive-by

BACOLOD CITY – Two unidentified killers shot and killed the elder brother of a former city councilor who himself survived a slay try almost exactly a year ago.

Police Master Sgt. Gegger Sebuan identified the victim as Robert Lo Tan, 70, who was driving a grey Nissan Sentra sedan when one of two men backriding on a motorcycle shot at him several times.

Local police spokesman, Lt. Col. Ariel Pico said the victim was cruising west along CL Montelibano Avenue inside Greensville 1 subdivision in Estefania village when the two assassins overtook him and shot at his car six times.

Six bullets entered the driver side window although police have yet to know how many hit the victim.

On December 14, 2018, almost a year ago, his younger brother, Ricardo, was ambushed in the mountain village of Alangilan here as he was going home from Campuestohan in Talisay City, the mountain resort he owns.

Tan had been on leave from his work since after the ambush and went on a 30-day after President Duterte linked him to illegal drug operations.

Ricardo is known by his nickname Cano while Robert is known as Kaishek.
