BACOLOD CITY – Fifteen villages were named as best performing barangays in the city of Bacolod in the yearend assessment of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bacolod at SMX Convention Center yesterday.
These were barangays 1, 5, 14, 18, 32, Vista Alegre, Cabug, Granada, Felisa, Mandalagan, Estefania, Taculing, Villamonte, Montevista, and Bata.
DILG- Bacolod Director Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag said the 15 barangays were recognized for their good performance this year.
The basis for their recognition were the Seal of Good Local Governance, and their compliance in the accounting, budget, and Disaster and Risk Reduction Management requirements.
Madayag reminded those villages that were not recognized this year to be compliant of what is required of them because this will reflect and benefit their constituents, as well as the city.
“That is why Bacolod has a lot of awards because the barangays have a lot of contribution to it,” said Madayag.
Meanwhile, Brgy. 5 was awarded for its barangay drug clearing program.
Another award was Most Outstanding Tanod given to Brgy. Villamonte as champion and Brgy. Alangilan as 1st runner-up in the individual category. In the group category, Brgy. Singcang-Airport was the champion in the city level and 1st runner up in the regional level; Brgy. Villamonte and Brgy. Taculing were the 1st and 2nd runner-up respectively in the city level.
Best Performing Barangay Secretaries were Althea Rose Banaco of Brgy 14, Licel Sedurifa of Brgy 32, Venice Angling of Brgy. 5, Rosalie Cuaycong of Brgy. Granada and Stephen Jalando-on of Brgy. Felisa.
