BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Police across the province nabbed several men wanted for various cases including one for the rape of a child, one for homicide, and two for illegal transport of charcoal.
The Sagay police reported the arrest of a senior man, Lorenzo Carballo, 74, who is accused in a six-year-old case for sexually abusing a child in Taba-ao village, Sagay City.
In neighboring Cadiz, police also arrested Ricardo Mahilum, 42, in Daga village for a similar case filed against him July this year.
Mahilum’s bail was fixed at P200,000 while Carballo was reported to be held in jail until the conclusion of his trial.
Meanwhile, the second most wanted person in Hinobaan town, Vergelio Toreno, 21, was arrested for homicide.
In January, Toreno turned himself in for killing Rogelio Rebles, a man he had a drinking session with.
In Moises Padilla town, Jimmy Medel and Bernabe Ochida were apprehended for illegally transporting 557 sacks of charcoal and 15 pieces of mahogany with an estimated total of 160 board feet.
Medel was a businessman from Bacolod City and Ochida, his driver, is a resident of Bago City.
Medel and Ochida reportedly only declared 400 sacks of charcoal but were discovered by personnel of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to be carrying more than that.
