BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The body found in an open field along Vista Alegre in the village of Mansilingan last Sunday was identified by his wife as Alex Soberano, 51, and an ex-convict.
Police Station 7 commander, Captain Elmer Bonilla said Soberano’s wife confirmed he was released eight months ago from Muntinlupa City Jail after he was arrested in a buy bust operation here in Bacolod.
Bonilla said Soberano just decided to return here in the city after serving his jail sentence.
Bonilla added that the victim’s wife showed them a blotter report of alleged abduction of her husband last 22 July 2022.
The Police is also looking into a possible motive of illegal drugs behind the murder given the victim’s background.
Last Sunday 31 July , a man who was tending his carabao noticed a foul smell along the area and decided to check on it.
When he came to the area, he slightly dug into the sand and noticed a body part of a man.
Soberano was believed to be buried by about two to three days already due to his state of decomposition.
