BACOLOD CITY – The Muslim community in Bacolod City is calling for justice over the killing of a 66-year-old Maranao businessman whose body was found hogtied at Purok Kasanag, Barangay Mandalagan, Tuesday, 3 December.
Abukhair Carcauga, the imam or worship leader here, said Ontao Sacar was a well-respected figure by their community here because of his significant contributions as president of the Muslim Brotherhood Maranao Tribe.
“He had many contributions to our community; whenever there were emergencies, he was the one helping us in his personal capacity as a businessman,” Carcauga said.
Carcauga said they do not believe Sacar’s was drug-related.
He added because of the killing, most of their members fear for their safety and security.
Carcauga said they will meet as a community and will talk about further actions to shed light on the death of Sacar.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of our Muslim brother; we want justice,” he said.
Police here are still looking into possible motives such as the involvement of the victim in the illegal drug trade, personal reasons or business scams.
