The Senate has approved the bill to increase the public school teachers’ supplies allowance.
The Senate Bill 1092, also known as the Teaching Supplies Allowance Act of 2020, states that from 2021 to 2022, public school teachers will be receiving P5,000 as allowance, and will increase to P7,500 in 2023 until 2024, and P10,000 on 2024.
Sen. Ramon Revilla, Jr., who heads the Committee on Civil Service, had said once passed, 800,000 public school teachers in the country could benefit from it.
Last Monday, Revilla thanked his colleagues for supporting the passage of the bill.
“This measure recognizes the hardships, sacrifices and invaluable contributions of our teachers to our society… we are a step closer to realizing a better working environment for our teachers,” Revilla said in a statement published in the Philippine Senate website.
