President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos has directed the putting up of tents as temporary shelter for victims in Bogo City who were displaced after a 6.9 earthquake struck their area last 30 September 2025.
Marcos Jr said the tent shelters are temporary just so the victims would have a roof over their heads, acknowledging the massive damage to infrastructure which caused a lot of buildings unsafe for occupancy.
“Minamadali na lang natin… para naman may masilungan sila dito. Dahil marami, tama rin naman, natatakot na bumalik sa building. Mas gusto nila dito sila sa labas,” the President said in a press release of the PresidentialCommunicationsOffice, adding that the idea of the Tent City came from the constituents themselves.
Tents used by Red Cross during the COVID-19 pandemic as staging and isolation wards would be used for the displaced. Basic services will also be provided for the victims, Marcos Jr assured.
This includes food and water supplies and even power.
He also assured the earthquake-affected communities of continued government support in the relief and recovery efforts, the press release added.
