BACOLOD CITY, Negroe Occidental – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos offers his sympathies to those affected by 6.7 earthquake that hit Cebu, and assures the victims that he has been praying for them and their safety.
He also assured that pertinent people have already been sent to offer assistance to affected areas and to address issues and concerns.
“The DPWH is ensuring that roads and bridges are secured and safe, while the Department of Energy is ensuring that power supply is back,” he said.
He also revealed that the Department of Health has also augmented health staff in hospitals while the DSWD has sent food assistance to those who need it.
Marcos Jr added that the Bureau of Fire Protection has been dispatched for search and rescue, while members of the police is making sure that peace and order is maintained as well as assisting in rescue operations.
The Office of Civil Defense and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is also coordinating with all pertinent agencies to swiftly address the situation.
Marcos also leads the distribution of relief and assistance to local government units and victims of Tropical Storm Opong at Nursery Elementary School in Masbate today, 1 October 2025.
These include the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) of PhP10,000 each for 600 families, and two checks totaling over P35 million from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region V to the Provincial Government of Masbate for Livelihood Assistance and Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) for 6,000-plus beneficiaries in 11 municipalities, the Presidential Communications Office said.
The PCO added that Marcos also oversaw the distribution of additional financial assistance, TUPAD payouts, and aid from the government internship program by the DOLE; family food packs, hygiene kits, malongs, 10-meter laminated sacks, and water filtration kits from the DSWD; ‘chari-timba’ or pails with various grocery items from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO); and hot meals along with mobile kitchen services from the Philippine Red Cross.
