Local spokesman Lt. Col. Ariel Pico told DNX the fatality was identified as Patrolman Eric Alcosaba who had a deployment order to Mindanao but went absent without leave.

Pico said Alcosaba was one of several policemen identified by a slain drug personality as one of those protecting illegal drug operations.

(Update 2) The National Police ordered the relief of Alcosaba from Police Station 7 in 2017 along with then Police Col. William Senoron, Supt. Edel Jose Manzano, Cadiz City police station chief; Supt. Placido Gentoleo of Bacolod City Police Office; Supt. Antonietto Cañete of PRO-NIR; and Chief Inspector Edison Garcia, Regional Intelligence Division.

See the video in our Facebook page sent to DNX by a concerned citizen who witnessed one of the killers shoot Alcosaba in the head as he was sprawled by the roadside after the first volley of shots.
