BACOLOD CITY – (UPDATED) A widower driving a public utility jeepney ran over a 74-year-old woman on the national highway in Tangub village here, killing the victim instantly.
Police arrested Arnold Gonzales Villarta, 34, who drives the passenger jeepney named Roxanne plying the Pulupandan-Bacolod route.
Local PNP spokesman, Lt. Col. Ariel Pico reported that Villarta accidentally hit Nelia Marquez Bo-oc, 74, who lives in Tangub village, while she was crossing the highway in front of a hardware store.
Photos from the police, too graphic for publication, showed the victim sprawled under the vehicle, a pool of blood collecting around her head.
Police are still probing the incident blotters as reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.
