BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – In a case of history repeating itself, a lola (grandmother) and her apo (granddaughter) have been arrested over the weekend for their alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade here.
Annabelle Diaz, 63, and Juliana Marie Sablon, 22, were arrested in a recent buy-bust operation led by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU 6), during which over half a million pesos worth of suspected illegal drugs were seized.
Both women have a history of drug-related offenses.
Annabelle was arrested in 2005 and released in 2008, while Juliana was arrested just last year in July 2021 and was released in October 2022.
Both women had been released through plea bargaining.
Police Captain Glenn Soliman who is probing the case told DNX police had been watching the two for several months after receiving information that their family members were involved in selling illegal drugs.
Both are now detained at the Police Station 2 custodial facility.
