BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The General Services Office has started to pull out 133 television sets in all offices of the Bacolod City Government Center as ordered by Mayor Albee Benitez.
This came after the mayor caught five employees watching a TV program at the City Treasurer’s Office during office hours.
City Administrator Pacifico Maghari III however said, they will review whether or not they will exempt other offices which might need TV sets for their line of work like the Public Information Office, which uses the TV to monitor news.
All department heads, according to Maghari, were directed to coordinate with the GSO for proper procedure in returning the TVs, especially those that were donated or those not owned by government.
The office of the City Treasurer was given until Friday to give their explanation on the incident.
Maghari added that this is only part of the ‘change’ the mayor wants to bring to the BCGC, ensuring that basic services are given to the public without any delay nor distractions.
