BACOLOD CITY – An unfulfilled payment on her turn for the 10-week “paluwagan“, a form of informal group savings where members contribute by turns in a collective pot, led to a filing of a complaint against the delinquent payee.

Angelica Abilay, of the sub-village Masagana, Village 6 complained to Police Station 2 against a fellow member of their paluwagan who failed to pony up the full P5,000 pot.

Abilay said that when it was her turn to receive the collection, fellow paluwagan member Nissan Gayanelo was not able to give her the full amount, but rather turned over only P1,000 last 4 December.

Gayanelo, Abilay claimed, promised to give the remaining amount the next day.

But up until now, Abilay had not yet received the full amount intended for her, prompting her to file the complaint.

Meanwhile, in 26th Street Calamba, village 2, Mildred Garde reported on the same station that the stainless handle on her bicycle worth P8,000 was stolen.

The incident happened last 10 December about 6:30 a.m.

Garde said she received a tip from village caretaker Jimmy Ungada regarding the suspect.

The thief had tried to sell the stolen bicycle’s stainless handle to Ungada, but the latter refused.

Ungada told Garde that it was Ronnel Canlas alias “Toto” who allegedly took the bike part.
