BACOLOD CITY – Floodings in areas of the city are normal especially with the kind of volume of rains like the one experienced by Bacolod last night.
“For as long as floodwaters were able to subside within 30 minutes, that means that our drainage is working,” Executive Assistant Joemarie Vargas told DNX.
Vargas, the city’s head for the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said based on their monitoring last night, there was “gutter-level” floods along areas like those along Hernaez-Lacson, 12th and 14th Streets.
The disaster officer said gutter-level is around six inches of water, which is usual because of the heavy rains (more than 30 mm).
The floodwaters around the affected areas also quickly subsided, or at least within 30 minutes.
