Silliman gears up vs. nCov

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Silliman University established an alternative learning scheme for pre-school to senior high school classes to strengthen precautionary measures against the 2019-nCoronavirus, effective tomorrow, Wednesday, 5 February, 2020.

It was emphasized in the learning scheme that academic activities and assessment will be home-based, or will be continued by the students at their homes, and will be based on a learning plan given to them, a statement issued by the school administration on its social media page said.

An advisory will be issued by the University on February 10, 2020 whether classes will go back to its normal setup.

Regular classes for both tertiary and graduate studies will continue observing strict precautionary measures given by the World Health Organization and Department of Health.

The University also postponed several scheduled activities and extracurricular activities to ensure the safety of the students.

The two Chinese nationals who were positive of the virus were reported to have travel history in Cebu, and in Dumaguete where the school is situated, before going to Manila.
