BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Police in the northern Negros city of Victorias reported a broad daylight killing around 4pm yesterday 14 July 2022.
Police identified the victim as Roldan Berito, 40, a native of Manapla, and a former member of the town’s Rapid Police Auxiliary.
Deputy Chief of Victorias City Police Lieutenant Genus David said the victim was standing by the sidewalk when a man went up to him and shot him in the head.
The killer then fled on a motorcycle.
Police recovered a deformed slug and an empty bullet shell from the crime scene.
David said the victim was reported to have a previous case of illegal possession of firearms but a further investigation is being held to verify if he had committed other illegal activities.
He added that personal grudges may be the motive behind the shooting.
