BACOLOD CITY – The drug czar here is not about to rest on the police’ laurels after a series of drug busts that has netted large volumes of suspected meth, including a one-time haul worth P18 million.
Police Lt. Col. Jovie Espenido told DNX the confiscation of shabu reaching several kilos in some single buy-busts only means the volume from the source is large enough.
“It can be police efficiency, carelessness of peddlers or the supplier’s volume is really that big,” Espenido said.
More than 10 kilos of suspected shabu, the poor man’s cocaine, have been confiscated by police over three years, starting in 2017, consolidated data of the local PNP showed.
Espenido pointed out unless the supply is choked from the source, shabu shall continue to flow into the city.
The controversial police officer who is credited with busting druglords embedded in the local bureaucracy in Ozamiz City and Albuera town, Leyte province, was assigned by the PNP as deputy city director for operations here.
He could not, however, disclose yet who runs the major drug syndicate supplying peddlers here or if this is operating on a city or provincial level.
