BACOLOD CITY – The barangay health workers will soon receive P4500 monthly allowance.

The Bacolod City council approved in second reading an ordinance amending section 4 of City Ordinance No. 623, series of 2012 entitled, “An Ordinance Increasing the Allowance of the City Paid Barangay Health Workers”.

As stated in the proposed ordinance, the city paid barangay health workers currently receive P4000 monthly.

Councilor Cindy Rojas, chair of the committee on finance, said the barangay health workers’ current allowance are insufficient to cover their daily expenses in the performance of their duties and responsibilities in the city.

The councilor believed it is high time for the barangay health workers to receive an increase because they have been vital in promoting and providing healthcare services in the city.

“Barangay health workers are the frontliners who provide healthcare services and programs to make sure that the population is healthy,” said Rojas.
