An unpaid debt and a romantic rivalry: Police eye two angles in village worker slay

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Romantic rivalry and an unpaid debt are two angles probers are looking into as motives behind the slay of a village worker who was found dead early in the morning today, 4 August 2022.

PO Major Joerie Puerto, Station 8 police chief, also told DNX they already have two persons of interest in the killing of Reynold Apuhin based on the footages of closed circuit television taken at the area.

Apuhin’s body was found along the JR Torres Avenue and bore stab wounds on his neck and chest.

The initial probe showed the victim fought back as there were signs of struggle found at the crime scene.

Puerto said Apuhin was an LGBT member and described him as someone who is athletic.

The victim according to him could have the strength to fight back and escape if there was a single attacker but was unable to fight back two or more.

Co-workers of Apuhin described him as someone who is kind, generous and hard working.

He worked at the barangay Singcang-airport hall for 12 years.
