BACOLOD CITY – The English say words can never harm you but it can land you in jail.
If said scandalously.
That, and a good swig led policemen to arrest a 61-year-old man around 3:30am, 3 January 2020, who was “shouting scandalously” at the Bacolod North Terminal.
Police identified the man as Wilhelm Jamantoc who was bought to Police Station 3 for detention by patrol officers Nico Rosano Catipunan and Aiken Emar.
Meanwhile, the new year saw policemen on a series of anti-illegal gambling arrests, with 10 persons nabbed in two separate operations.
At Station 6 led by Police Capt. Elmer Bonilla, police officer Ian Piano led a team that arrested six persons at Star Apple sub-village, Brgy. 27, who were allegedly playing Filipino poker or pusoy dos.
Nabbed by police around 11:20pm were John Paul Jovero, 34; Archie Jovero, 31; Reynold Carpina, 33; Joel Flores, 47; Kierran Ambait, 27; and Joseph Cagalcal, 38.
At the area of Police Station 4, the coin game cara y cruz (heads or tails in Spanish) landed four behind bars.
Police arrested them at the sub-village of Hilway in Village 22 around 9pm and were identified as Wilfredo Delector, 33; Jake Dela Torre, 21; Reymund Sancho, 37; and Jonathan Abquilan, 29.
