BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Two men were shot dead, one along a national highway in broad daylight in the south here 10 days before Christmas eve.
Police in Sipalay, a city popular for its beaches at least 160 kilometers south of here, reported the shooting took place around 2:30pm on 14 December 2022 at Camp Valdez, a sub-village of Mambaroto.
City police chief Bryan Sagayadoro told DNX Jomel Espora, 40, died at the hospital while Rogie Fajardo, 23, is now being treated in a hospital here after still unknown gunmen shot at them as they were climbing a steep portion of the highway.
Six hours after the Sipalay incident, police responding to information from residents in Isabela town found a man, 74, dead in hacienda Alicia, Barangay (village) 5.
Narciso David, who lives in the Isabela village, 70 kilometers south of here, was found dead with three gunshot wounds in his chest, possibly from a 45 caliber pistol.
Police found three 45 caliber spent shells near the body of the victim.
