BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Police are hunting a man who is suspected to have killed a drinking buddy in a drunken fit late last night, 23 September 2022, in neighboring Bago City.
Police in that city, 32 kilometers south from here, reported that Reylan Abadajos, 36, was walking home in barangay (village) Bacong when he was shot in a dark alley by Mamerto Dela Cruz with a sulpak or a homemade gun.
Case probe Mars Anthony Luto said Abadajos was a tractor driver who had just got his day’s wage when he was shot by Dela Cruz who fled from Kawayan sub-village where he also lives.
Luto told DNX Juanito Seredon, a neighbor, told them he first heard what sounded like a gunshot outside his house and when he went out, he saw the suspect holding the weapon, and the victim sprawled on the ground with a wound on his neck.
Dela Cruz was rushed to the city hospital where a doctor declared him dead.
The live-in partner of the suspect, Daylen Guilaran, told Luto Dela Cruz might have been drunk before the incident took place because he had been drinking earlier.
Luto also said the suspect and the victims had no problem between them and were even drinking buddies.
