BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Confirmed CoViD cases in the city and province are projected to reach the 2,500 mark by the end of August, a study by statisticians of a government-run hospital here shows.
Using baseline data from 19 August, the data experts of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital made a 12-day forecast until 31 August that showed a daily cummulative increase of at least 100 cases.
By August’s end, the study projected cumulative cases at 2,581 from the 19 August baseline of 1,461.
Of the projected 2,581 positive cases, 120 are estimated new ones.
The same projection also showed an upper class limit of 3,592 cases and a lower class limit of 1,799.
The limits refer to the possible high and low projection of cases until 31 August.
The results of the study, furnished to DNX by hospital medical chief Julius Drilon, is the first one to have been made public since the series of quarantines here started mid February.
The statisticians used data from the health department’s Western Visayas Daily Bulletin.
They also said one limitation of the study was the “conflict” in information among data from Western Visayas, Bacolod City and Negros Occidental although this is “minimal.”
