BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Negros Occidental and Bacolod will be on lockdown on 28 to 31 August 2020 to conduct mass testing on 10,000 people, the Negros Occidental Facebook page said.
A Special Task Force will be created to facilitate the mass testing of symptomatic patients and their close contacts in the cities of Bacolod, Silay, Talisay, Bago, and the Municipality of Murcia, on those dates.
The announcement coincided with the lifting of the moratorium of entries of Locally Stranded Individuals and Returning Overseas Filipinos as advised by the Regional InterAgency Task Force, and the Regional Task Force on CoViD-19.
Earlier reports reveal that local transmissions are on the rise, especially in Bacolod.
Negros Occidental Eugenio Jose Lacson, together with Board Member Ryan Gamboa, Provincial Consultant Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, Provincial Administrator lawyer Rayfrando Diaz, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, and Councilor Renecito Novero held a press conference today to announce the lockdown.
