BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Police in the northern Negros city of San Carlos have filed a charge for homicide against a son, 19, who claimed to have defended his mother against a neighbor who allegedly maliciously touched her last night on a Holy Tuesday as Catholics here observe Semana Santa.
Lieutenant Colonel Jesus Mesahon Jr told DNX John Mark Eredera claimed he saw a drunk Dominador Caparida, 75, maliciously touch his elderly mother’s hand around 7:30pm in Pinamantawan, a community in the city’s Quezon village.
Caparida, after being confronted by Eredera, stabbed but did not hit the latter who then counter-attacked, hitting Capaparida with a flurry of punches.
The widow then fell on the ground and hit his head on a rock.
Police say he died where he fell.
