BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A series of police operations here over the weekend led to the arrest of suspects involved in various crimes in the province.
In Victorias City, around 30 kilometers north of here, the police led by deputy police chief, Captain Genus David, conducted an operation against illegal cockfighting and arrested Mansio Causapin, Rolando Beboso, and Billy Palarpalar.
All were allegedly caught in the act of “cockfighting” and were found to be in possession of three fighting cocks, two fighting cocks with gaffs, and P900 in different denominations as bet money.
The suspects are now in the custody of the Victorias Police.
In Talisay City, the police conducted an illegal gambling operation against a cards game known as “tong-its”
The operation led to the arrest of Germanni Domin, Jason Bustamante, and Teodoro Amplayo, who were caught in possession of a deck of playing cards and bet money of P284 in different denomination.
The suspects and recovered items are now in the custody of the Talisay Police.
In another incident also in Talisay City, a drinking session, known also as tongga in the local language, turned violent when Romeo Escubido, had an altercation with Enrique Tajanlangit, the uncle of his drinking buddy Leo Cabarles.
Cabarles punched Escubido who, in turn, stabbed him in the back and right arm.
The victim was rushed to Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City for medical treatment, while the suspect was arrested by the personnel of Talisay CPS through a pursuit operation.
