BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The area where Patient 8 resided — in the sub-village of Sabes, Villamonte — was placed on total lockdown yesterday, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said.
The lockdown, which will last 14 days, will affect anyone within the 30-meter radius. In the case of Sabes, this affected 130 to 150 families.
“Under a lockdown, nobody is allowed to leave,” the mayor said.
Instead, affected families will be given food subsidy through their Barangay Health Emergency Response Team every five days.
Patient 8 is the latest confirmed case. According to official reports, he was admitted to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital after he experienced difficulty of breathing. He died from severe respiratory failure and community-acquired pneumonia.
Before that, he had diarrhea for three days.
His immediately family, according to Leonardia, has already been transported to a quarantine facility.
