BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The lawyer-spokesman of new Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez said the average daily spend of the past Leonardia administration of P2.9 million is “mysterious and unbelievable” although this is based on initial observations.
Dilag disclosed in a news conference yesterday, 5 June, that there is a “disparity” of at least P82 million in the funds of the City Mayor’s Office from May to June 2022.
“That is the intriguing part,” Dilag said when asked how the funds were spent.
The allocation for the City Mayor’s Office stood at around P160.7 million in May 2022 but the balance for May was only around P78.4 million or a difference of around P82 million.
The spokesman of Grupo Progreso, physician Chris Sorongon, was asked to give his comment for this report but did not return SMS texts and calls.
