BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The Bacolod City Police Office is on a roll against illegal drugs since last week as different units hit hard on meth operations on orders of the new director here, Colonel Joeresty Coronica.
Chief police prober, Lieutenant Colonel Joery Puerto, told DNX the crackdown on drugs was based on an order issued by Coronica after his full appointment as city director was confirmed recently.
The operations of the City Drug Enforcement Unit and territorial police stations have netted 15 suspects so far, the latest apprehended ones two boys, both aged 16, who were arrested today, 27 September 2024, around 1am in Lampirong, a community in Barangay 2 reputed to be a selling point of meth.
Police seized around 50 grams of shabu valued at a street price of P340,000. This adds to the more than P4 million worth of shabu already seized by police in its previous operations.
Coronica had earlier told DNX the city remains to be a transhipment point in which meth supply from places like Iloilo province or Metro Manila pass through for delivery to other areas in Negros Occidental province.
