More holy Holy Week? Police reports drop in crime during Semana Santa 2022

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Poluce reported a drop in crime by at least 40 percent during the Holy Week this year compared to last year.

Data from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office showed a drop of at least 40 percent in crime volume during the Holy Week that ran from 10 to 16 April this year compared to the Semana Santa last year.

The same report also said crime clearance efficiency decreased by 83 percent while crime solution efficiency fell by 67 percent, all compared to year 2021 reports.

Index crime or those committed against persons dropped to 11 percent while non-index ones had a 62.5 percent decrease.

The eight focus crime also dropped by only 11 percent with eight this year compared to nine last year.

Most committed crimes were murder, followed by homicide, physical injury, and rape.
