Man hacked dead by neighbor’s son, many fall in anti-gambling ops

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – An elderly man looking for his neighbor in the northern Negros Occidental town of Calatrava was hacked dead by that neighbor’s son this week.

The town police said Torebio Guanzon, 59, went looking for Berto Mahinay when he chanced upon Mahinay’s son, Junrey, sitting outside another neighbor’s abandoned house.

The police said Guanzon and Berto, 29, had a heated argument that led to Berto hacking Guanzon with a bladed weapon on the head.

The victim died instantly and was declared dead by doctors at the town hospital while police arrested the suspect.
