BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Two fishermen from the village of Talaban in Himamaylan City reportedly fought over the cutting of an ipil-ipil tree which then led to a heated conversation and a shooting.
No one was hurt.
The victim, Joper Napulan, 51, reportedly stopped the shooter, Aldren Magbato, from cutting the ipil ipil, also called a lead tree in some places, that led to a heated argument.
Both reportedly reached for weapons, a cane knife for Napulan and a gun for Magbato who shot Napulan twice but failed to hit him.
Meanwhile, in neighboring Kabankalan City, the body of a woman, 67, was found dug up in a public cemetery today, 29 August 2022.
City police chief, Colonel Reymond Cruz told DNX the incident might have happened the previous night since there are no guards are securing the city’s public cemetery at night.
He added that they have yet to confirm if it is an incident of necrophilia.
