BACOLOD CITY – The Korean national who drove a vehicle that hit the P4.8 million Halandumon tower at Gatuslao- Gonzaga streets will possibly pay P300,000 to P400,000 for the damages caused.

Project Engineer Loben Rafael Ceballos of the City Engineers Office (CEO) said the contractor Hummingbird Construction and Supply will meet with the Korean national to settle the amount of damages.

Ceballos said the project was still under the contractor because it was not yet turned over to the city.

“The ratification of the project is still with the contractor. They will not be paid until they have fixed what needs to be repaired,” said Ceballos.

The project engineer revealed that only 80 percent of the project cost was paid to the contractor because the city has not yet issued a final acceptance.

A final acceptance by the city government is needed to pay the contractor in full.

The construction of the Halandumon Tower started in December 2018 and was inaugurated on 18 June 2019.

Ceballos said the contractor may incur liquidated damages for being in delay of the turnover of the project.

He said he hopes that in three months, the Halandumon Tower will be turned over to the city government of Bacolod.
