BACOLOD CITY – Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran appealed to the public to stop spreading misinformation about the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
“It creates panic among us. I urge the public to double check with authorities if the information they see on social media are correct,” said Familiaran.
The vice mayor belied reports on social media that a foreigner infected with nCoV has been admitted in a private hospital in Bacolod.
Familiaran said Bacolod is still free from coronavirus as of this time.
Meanwhile, the Riverside Medical Center Inc (RMCI), a private hospital in the city issued a statement amid reports that a person with nCov has been treated to their medical institution.
“In view of speculations and rumors being spread regarding the presence of nCoV in our medical institution, we would like to assure the public that we currently do not have any suspected case of patient(s) with nCoV,” the official statement said.
RMCI assured the public that their facility is equipped and prepared to handle cases involving nCoV.
It advised the public to be vigilant and to rely only on reports issued by their hospital and the Department of Health (DOH).
