BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A ranking police officer here has confirmed that the family of slain businessman Roland Tan had him cremated today, less than 24 hours after he was shot dead in front of his agricultural supplies store and lending company office.
Local spokesman Lt. Col. Ariel Pico told DNX Tan was cremated around 10am today in a local crematory.
His family, Pico added, refused an autopsy.
As the investigation of Police Station 4 continues, Pico said the local police is looking at two main angles, business and personal grudges, as the sources of motives for the killing of Tan.
Pico added that Tan’s killers, who reportedly wore masks, were facing him when they shot him as indicated by the wounds, one on his right chest, the other below his right ear.
“They could have been waiting for him and could have been in the vicinity of his office earlier,” Pico said.
The Police Station 4 blotter listed the time of incident at 5pm.
Tan was about to enter his vehicle, a white SUV that was parked just outside the office of Crown Agri Trading and Infinity Lending, which he both owns, when the killers struck.
Police theorize the three gunmen fled eastward up Narra Avenue, located inside the Shopping commercial complex, the old business center here.
