DILG provincial director Panes, 60, dies of heart attack

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Provincial Director of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Negros Occidental Atty. Ferdinand Panes died on Wednesday, 28 October. He was 60.

“He passed away at the St. Paul’s Hospital in Iloilo after suffering from a heart attack and becoming comatose,” Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz confirmed.

Panes served as the Provincial Director of DILG-Negros Occidental since July 2019.

He was previously assigned as the City Director of DILG-Iloilo City for nine years before he was transferred to Negros Occidental.

The DILG Region 6 has extended its sympathies to the family of the late provincial director, “We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and all his loved ones. May our Lord provide you with strength and comfort in this sorrowful time”.

In a press statement, DILG Region 6 said Panes was “undoubtedly an asset to the Department and an immensely valuable public servant”.

“We in the DILG-Region 6 mourn the loss of a stem but kind boss, a brilliant mentor, and a true friend and family. Atty Nanding may have gone before us but he left behind a legacy that will live on through years,” it added.
