BACOLOD CITY – The Philippine National Police central Crime Laboratory will conduct the DNA test on the skeletal remains inside a drum found by a fisherman here.
Police chief Henry Biñas told DNX his office will only facilitate the request of Ann Pirote, the daughter of police officer Lito Pirote on Holy Week last year and remains missing until now.
“We will only forward her request,” Biñas told DNX.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency had earlier included Pirote as one of the principal accused along with four others, one a police colonel, former PDEA deputy director and a Customs agent.
A DNA test is a method in crime forensics that can help in identifying a victim or a suspect.
The US National Human Genome Institute says deoxyribonucleic acid is “a molecule that contains the biological instructions that make each species unique.”
