Cong. Greg urges workers to be more productive with wage hike

BACOLOD CITY – Lone District Cong. Greg G. Gasataya welcomed the decision of the regional wage board to hike daily rates by P30 but he also urged workers to be “more productive.”

By increasing production, the workers will do their share in boosting the economy, Gasataya told DNX as he recognized different perspectives about the increase.

There are those, he said, who see the increase, which raised minimum levels to P395 daily, “as not enough” and there are those who see it as enough to tide them over the rough times.”

The solon, however, said he sees any increase as a step forward for workers and the economy.

“Whatever the amount, it would lead to an increase in the money going around,” he added.

Wennie Sancho, one of the labor sector representatives to the wage board, had earlier said that while the P30 hike is not “really that high” compared to rising costs of living,” it can, nevertheless, serve to cushion the impact of rising prices of commodities.
