BACOLOD CITY – Lone District Cong. Greg Gasataya has committed to help village chiefs here look for funds from the national government in building their barangay halls provided they can find lots on which to build these.
Gasataya gave this assurance after Village 22 chief Diosdado Mayo sought out his and Mayor Evelio Leonardia’s help in putting up a village hall after their old one on one was demolished during the illegal structure clearing campaign last August.
“I have committed to (village chief) Mayo and to other barangay captains that as soon as they can have a government property in their respective barangays, we can request for funding from the national government for the construction of their barangay halls,” Gasataya told DNX.
He added the national government cannot provide funds for land purchase as it falls within the jurisdiction of the local government.
