BACOLOD CITY – Councilor Carl Lopez, chairperson of the city council’s Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, said he will conduct a committee hearing on the proposed removal of center islands and cutting down of trees along Narra Avenue Extension and Tindalo Avenue.

The council had earlier passed a resolution requesting the City Engineers Office (CEO) to conduct a study in considering the removal of the center islands and cutting down of trees in said areas.

Councilor Dindo Ramos, chairperson of the Committee on Transportation earlier said that the center islands along Narra Avenue and Tindalo Avenue no longer serve its original purpose, thus, its removal may help solve the traffic problem in the city.

Lopez said he shares the same sentiments with the people who oppose the cutting of trees in the center islands.

“Not single tree should be cut,” he said.
