BACOLOD CITY – City police chief, Col. Henry Biñas said there is no actual or imminent threat coming from rebel or terrorist groups as thousands go to cemeteries tomorrow for All Saints Day.
“We have not monitored any threats coming from any groups,” Binas told DNX.
Human and vehicular traffic are expected to swell in several areas around public and private cemeteries as residents here remember their departed.
The two major public cemeteries – the Bacolod Public, and Catholic – located in the urban village of Villamonte are the most crowded ones and are the focus of police patrols and traffic enforcers.
The two are located along Burgos Street that runs eastward up to the private Chinese Cemetery and the Rolling Hills Memorial Park, two other sources of heavy traffic, Palm Haven Memorial Park and the Granada Public Cemetery.
The four are part of the 11 cemeteries here that has a census population of at least half a million.
The other cemeteries are, to the south, Bacolod Memorial Park, Sum-ag Public Cemetery, Santuario de Bacolod, and Sacred Heart Memorial Park.
North of the city is Rose Lawns Memorial Park in Bata village.
