Himamaylan City Vice-Mayor Justin Gatuslao graduated from the Angat Buhay Young Leaders in Government Fellowship recently in ceremonies held at the Quezon City Guesthouse. The graduation rites were led by Vice-President Leni Robredo.

The vice-mayor was handpicked as the sole fellow from Negros Island and was one of only two delegates interviewed and featured during the culminating rites, a press release furnished to DNX says.
Gatuslao was elected vice-mayor in 2019. He served as councilor of Himamaylan previously, and has undertaken reforms in the Sangguniang Panlungsod with emphasis on transparency, people empowerment, and inclusive governance.
The fellowship he joined was organized by the Office of the Vice President, and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, the oldest political foundation in Germany. The leadership training program brought together progressive young leaders in public service in the national and local levels.
The program curriculum is designed to develop governance skills in theory and in application, and featured personal development skills, political systems and theories, and transformative governance spread out over three months.
