BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Businessmen in this city are warned against people having time to prank on food and delivery services amidst the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said he has received reports that there are persons using his name to order food from business establishments in Bacolod and have them delivered at his office.

“Local businesses are just getting back at their feet because of the pandemic, yet some people still have time to prank them, and worse, politicize the matter,” he said.

Familiaran told the businessmen to be extra careful and verify information in his office once the same problem approached them.

Meanwhile, the vice mayor reminded all business establishments to consider persons who are obtaining essential goods and services to enter their premises.

Familiaran, in a Facebook post, said, “while we recognize and appreciate all of your efforts to combat the spread of Covid-19… we must consider those who are exempted especially persons, regardless of their age, who are obtaining essential goods and services, or those who are indispensable for work in industries permitted by the NIATF”.

Persons below 15 years old and those who are over age 65, those with immunodeficiency, comorbidity, or other health risks, and pregnant women are encouraged to stay at their homes while the city is placed under modified general community quarantine.
