Two more bodies recovered in sunken vessel

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Two more bodies were recovered by divers from Bantayan Island around 7:30 pm last night.

They were part of the nine who were reported missing when FV St. Peter the Fisherman II off the coast between Tanguigi island in northern Cebu and Gigantes island in Iloilo.

This brings the total number of the dead to four, with five others still missing.

Earlier, the bodies of two crew members were found and later identified to be those of Norberto Parlotzo and Rommel Engle.

The search continues at the site of the wreckage estimated to be around 44 meters deep on the ocean floor.

Investigation conducted on one of the survivors, 2nd Mate Pablito Desamparado, revealed that last 24 September at 1 am, the vessel listed and sunkbdue to strong winds while fishing off the waters in between Sicogon Island and Carles.

Nine crew membes on board namely, Frankie Chavez, a resident of Toboso, Negros Occidental (Boat Captain), Norberto Parlotzo, a resident of Bantayan Island, Cebu (Sonar Operator), Renante Forsuelo, Victor Calvo both resident of Cadiz City (Steersman), Herminio Ronamo a resident of Estancia Iloilo (Chief Engineer), Manuel Auditor a resident of Cadiz City (3rd Engineer), Rommel Engle a resident of Cadiz City (Piscador), Julit Salvo a resident of Don Salvador Benedicto (Piscador) and Julian Dungog a resident of Cadiz Cadiz City (Cook) went missing.

Engle’s body was brought back to Cadiz City arriving 11 pm Saturday, the PCG said.

The Philippine Coast Guard said it is possible that the remaining victims are still inside the wreck.
