Two fishermen drown in Calatrava, San Carlos

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Two fishermen drown in separate incidents in the town of Calatrava, and San Carlos City yesterday, 19 June 2022.

A local fisherman in Calatrava retrieved the body of Toboso resident Romeo Era, 31, at 6am yesterday in Suba village.

The local police and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office were immediately notified about the incident.

The victim was rushed to the municipal hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, in San Carlos City, a local fisherman also discovered the body of Jesus Navalis, 70, resident of the subvillage of Tinurongan, Quezon Village.

Navalis’ body of was seen floating in the waters of Barrio Dos, Guadalupe Village at 7 am.

The victim was identified to be Jesus Navalis, 70, of Sitio Tinurongan, Quezon Village.

Police could still not determine the cause of death. The only detail disclosed by police was that the victim was seen fishing with his neighbors the night before the incident.
